You kid picks the moral parents as the ones he'd want to live with on Wife Swap. Do you guys watch that show? There are always 2 sets of crazy parents. But usually the one that seems like they might be the normal ones, are quickly converted to the losers. We watched on episode where there was one family who dresses up like clowns and panhandles on the street for a living. Kids were panhandling too. Long haired, hippie freaks who lived in a small dirty crappy house. But, education and family was extremely important. The (elementary school age) kids would sit down with mom and dad every night and do homework together. They had quality time with there kids even if it was dressing up like Bozo and juggling. They tell there kids "you can grow up and be anything you want in life, just don't be stupid". (I now use that line often). Now it sounds pretty stupid to be preaching about growing up to be stupid when your out there panhandling, but they enjoyed being clowns and choose to make there living this way. What I mean by that is they make no excuses for not having a real job. They make enough money and they enjoy what there doing. Not that I agree with that. The other family lived in a nice house, but they were party animals. They didn't require there kids do any home work at all, and most times didn't care if they even went to school. They partied all the time, with there kids who were maybe in Jr high or early high school. At the clubs during the week with them, and of course they set no rules for the kids having an established bedtime. Sometimes they would be up all night and skip school. Dad waited on mom and the kids hand and foot, and mom and the kids dressed like hookers and wore enough make up to look like Bozo's sister. I always ask Zachary who he would rather have as parents. He chose the clowns! Ya that's my boy! Now I realize that calling the clowns the moral family is an oxymoron, as they are teaching there kids to panhandle rather than get a real job, but you catch my drift. They were clearly the lesser of 2 evils, and the better parents by far.
Last night, we had a family who again lived in a nice house, but mom and (14 yr old) daughter were convinced they were princesses. They walk around with crowns and wands. They sleep in the same bed together while dad slept in a separate room with the dog. They had princess party's, they made dad wait on them hand and foot- cooking cleaning ect. Mom and kid were completely spoiled. Spent lots of money on clothes and mom confessed she wont even leave her bedroom without make up on. The kid is disrespectful to everyone but her mother because everyone else is beneath them. Then we have the other family who bottles deer pee for a living and sells it to hunters. And they do this in the house so the whole house smells like urine. But this is the family business and they all are a part of it. Kids too. They are in high school. Aside from the deer pee, they seem relatively normal with pretty good morals. Mom shopped at the thrift shop because, (as she said) "why would she get dressed up to work in a barn? The deer don't care what she looks like". Kids are respectful with good work ethics despite what they do. So I ask Zachary who he would rather live with and he chooses deer pee family. I'm so proud!
