LIONS TIGERS AND BEARS, OH MY!
I saw a bear on my street this week. Just walking in someones yard. Freaked me out! I thought it was a dog at first as it was walking on all fours. And it took me a second for my brain to catch up and realize that was no dog. I came back home to get Steve and we went back to see it and it was gone. I wish I had stopped and taken a picture on my camera phone. Im not that smart. Ive heard of them being in the neighborhood, but this is the first time Ive ever seen one.

MY GOD I live in the country and I have deer in the back yard every morning and I have wild turkeys eating out of our compost. I live at the end of a dirt road surrounded by woods and a few neighbors on the street. I have yet to see wild life that could hurt me. I would have freaked out. Has there been alot of sightings.I remember as a kid going up to Maine and going to the dump to watch the bears. CRAZY.
Yes occasionally there are sightings. My bother in law is a police dispatcher in town and sometimes last summer he would call and say "Bear alert, bring the kids and dogs in!". But even the its not been as near our house as this was. Our road crosses another main road and last summer it was on the other side. So it would have had to cross a main road to get to our house, but still feaseable. This time it was only about 1o or 15 houses away on our side of Mountain Rd. It not like we live in the boonies or anything! I dont know if it was a brown bear or a black bear. I was too discombobulated at the time. Steve said "how big was it?" I said " I dunno" and he said "Was it bigger than me if I was on all fours?" Yes definatly. Wasnt huge as far as bears go, but It wasnt a baby cub either. Brother in law says the town wont do anthing about it because if its tranquilized than theres a chance it could die. They dont care about people as long as you leave them alone.Still incredibly intimidating!
Dennis is incredibly jealous!! We have a family of 3 in our neighborhood (a cub and 2 adults) and neighbors have seen them and we haven't. Dennis is so excited to see one he mistook the neighbor boys snapping branches in their yard for a bear and was disappointed when it wasn't!
