We went to Maine this past weekend. Had a great time. We left Friday after Zachary got out of school and came home Sunday night. The kids were great on the drive up. Ryan slept most of the way. We stopped at the NH liqueur store on the way there and stocked up. It was about a 3 hour ride. That's as much as Steve and I can stand being in a car. We stayed in Ogunquit, at a place called The Anchorage By the Sea. Nice hotel. My only complaint about the place is that it didn't have a coffee maker in the room. Which, a you know, is an important detail to me! Of course I had brought our own coffee and fixins but there was no coffee maker..grrr. Anyway, more importantly the hotel was very clean. I think they must have just completed renovations because everything was new. New bathtub, new windows, new paint and tile etc. The hotel was right on the beach and also along a trail called the Marginal Way. That was really cool. Its a 1 1/4 mile walk along the coastline. Click here for some pictures. Actually in the picture 2nd from the bottom on the first page, is the hotel we stayed at. http://seacoastnh.com/Travel/Scenic_Walks/Marginal_Way/
So Friday we didn't do too much. We got up there kinda late, then went out to dinner and checked out the hotel and that was about it. Saturday we got up and had breakfast then drove to Old Orchard Beach and I showed Steve the area and neighborhood we used to vacation as kids (and later as adults). We went on the beach there but we didnt stay too long. I wanted to walk the beach but Ryan was asleep in is car seat and he is too heavy to lug that thing around on a walk and obviously the big stroller wouldn't work in the sand. It was still really cool to me to be able to show him all around to a place that means so much to me. Then we went to Len Libbys candy store in Scarborough, home to Lenny the 1700 lb chocolate moose. http://www.lenlibby.com/lenny.htm Steve was in heaven with all that chocolate!
Back to the hotel to regroup. The boys went swimming in the hotel pool. I dont dare get my fat ass in a bathing suit. We went on our mile walk on the Marginal Way and had dinner at the Lobster Shack in Perkins Cove. Lobster roll and steamers for me..yummmm. Walked another mile back to the hotel and packed the car up and headed to Kittery to do some shopping. We got a few stores in before they closed. Zachary made out like a bandit. We were at the Nautica store and he was talking about the cologne he likes thats discontinued. The girl goes in the back and gives him this giant bottle of the stuff and says he can have it free! Had to have been a $60.00 bottle easily. He was on cloud 9! Sunday we took the scenic route along the coast to Nubble Light house. Very pretty and picturesque. Then we continued back to Kittery and did some more shopping. We got a few good deals but for the most part Kittery outlet stores are the same prices as regular stores. Steve and Zachary were impressed at the size of the trading post. So that was our trip in a nutshell. We had a great time but it wasnt long enough. But at the same time Im glad to be home and not be on the go all the time!

Sounds like a good time. Something about Maine seems so peaceful to me. The Trading Post is pretty huge but no good deals ever when I go up there. I tell ya we make the trek up in the fall to get the girls their Osh Gosh winter coats, that's about it. Once in a while a good deal at the Old Navy outlet, but hey, if you got a $60 bottle of cologne for free, that was almost worth the trip! Should last Z well through high school...ya think?
I need to go to Maine now. It's been too long! Your pictures are awesome and make me miss it.
